Another little project complete...cosmetic for sure. But, satisfying all the same. My 2001 TD5 Auto gaiters were looking pretty shabby - the handbrake one was basically just cloth, with all the pleather flaked off.

A quick Ebay order from TopGaiters saw two new proper leather ones in the post for under £10. You need to use the plastic frame for the low range and the wire sprung frame and rubber bands from the old ones, which does involve some reasonable dexterity with the superglue (thankfully the better half is a dab hand at such things). But, getting them out is easy, then it's just cleaning off the old glue (apparently nail polish remover does the business here), then fit the new gaiters to the frames and re-install.

I took the opportunity to clean up the rubber mat and remove 15 years of accumulated dirt. Should smarten up the interior nicely. I'll add a finished pic when there's some daylight.

Clearly, provided you put the gear knob back on, the truck is still driveable if you don't have the time to do it all in one go.

Tools: my hands and some superglue.
Time: about 5 minutes to remove from the car, about an hour to swap the gaiters and glue, then another 5 refitting to the car.
