New guy Freelander 1 2.0 di

Hey there , I have had my Freelander about a month now and I'm just after some advice .......might as well get the broken parts out first

In every gear as soon as I hit 3000 rpm it's like someone hits the breaks and it just won't go any more
Also at low revs ... A red engine warning light comes on ?

Also ideas on an air intake mine is the Di not the td4

Could be it just needs good service oil and filters or sump pickup blocked. Easy little things, But it is red for a reason so beware.
