hi all,

just thought I'd post some before and after pics of my new grill, my old one was looking tired and no 'back to black' would touch it. i know how you all like to give your opinion!;) i may revert back to the original style when i can get the autobiography paint color - (Arrrr!) and get it color coded along with the part under the headlights! anybody have the purple autobiography code?

also i have an annoying EAS problem, when parked the rear raises(most of the time), then when the car is started it sits normally, also it can take some time to finish on access mode - a good 5 mins. every few weeks or month EAS Fault appears usually while driving down a smooth road, the fabulous BRIAN at GREEN OVAL GARAGE, LEEDS, resets it for me, always with the same pressure switch fault, however this is not the fault! on Brian's advice i normally drive round on motorway height to avoid unnecessary use of EAS. anybody else had this problem? i would prefer not to go to springs!

help!

My front grill also looked like yours and I used some plastic bumper paint that I got from the local accesory shop for about £8. The dark grey colour looks pretty good, in fact you can't tell that it's not a new grill, it looks like the factory colour.
I do like the look of your new grill though and if you decide to change it do let me know as I would be interested as I have just bought a set of Range Rover sport 19" wheels for mine and I think that grill would be a good match.

PS is it easy to remove those plastic bits under the headlights? has anybody done a post with instructions someone could link me to?

are you all keeping your opinion to yourselves about this new grill? go on.....hit me with it!!!!

as for the grill on your P38 RatBag I think its almost ok, its almost missing something but I cant place my finger on it. I like it but I dont think I would have it on my P38.

thanks for that, very kind and Ratbag, what year is yours? i see you have the 2000 fog lamps!

Its a 96 vehicle and the DVLA think its red...

I really dont EVER think its wise to post ANY photo with your number plate showing. I got this from using the free vehicle check tool over at the DVLA's site. Im sure a criminal could do lots more. This has been posted about in the forums before as well.

From reading your first post Rat you say its an Autobiography colour?? I hope someone didn't sell you the vehicle as an Autobiography model because it wont be if its a 1996 plate :(

I think its a vast improvement over the original P38 grill. Perhaps think about colour coding the new grill to the purple.

Even in its naked original grey/silver state, it still looks rather smart.

why not, they're visible on the car all the time

By the way I prefer the colour coded version, I like the P38 to resemble the P38 :)

yes i read all the post about fake autobiography, but this one is not, i think mine is a rather special car if i do say so., it started life as a regular 2.5dse in rhoja? red in 1996. owned by a Lord from york, in 1999/2000 it was sent back to Land rover special vehicles to have a full strip down (every thing off!) no red paint to be seen under bonnet etc. and autobiography spec, full respray in the purple, full interior re trim, the total works, inc the new twin exhaust system. i wont bore you with the full work, its lots and lots!

i was confused by the fog lights at first seen as its a diesel!

its covered 65000 from new. thats why it was £8500! it is immaculate to say the least as the new interior has only seen 20.000 miles. i love it! so nice in fact, as per my previous post land rover still honor its warranty evan though its 12 years old.

i'll get some pics of it on here for you to see.

hi wills,

i agree fully, i can't quite put my finger on whats missing/wrong, i may have the two grills i have color coded and the bits under the lights. see how that looks, unless its just because the grey grill is all shiny and new looking. i think i need some new headlights to freshen it up.

David. :)

i usually have C11VAD as my user name! i always wanted R47 BAG as a plate but can't get it! so i would have been displaying my plate once again. i think its only a worry if some one targets steeling these cars. i'm always wary of people who disguise there plates on autotrader too.

i do take your point and advice and appreciate your concern. :)

I rekon it looks very smart, though like tervueren ses I prefer the colour coded original.
Before I sold me 38, I would very rarley spend on cosmetics.prefering to save for the needy bits. Well, that and the fact that om a stingy git!!

I think the strips under the headlights, both the grey plastic bit and the colour coded stip, need to be painted the same gunmetal grey as the grill, that should be the finishing touch I recon!? Go on Mr.photoshop, give that a try and let's see what that would look like!
