See attached photos of new fuel tank and front outrigger for my series 2a.

The new tank wouldn't have fit with the filler neck there if I wasn't also fitting new fuel tank outriggers front and back. Is this a known issue with reproduction parts?

Also.. what's that funny notch cut out the bottom of the front outrigger? It's not on my old one..

yep to get the new tank into my series 3 swb I had to cut a wedge out of the tub behind the seat to accommodate the position of the filler neck.

I can imagine that was the best option when faced with a tank that wouldn't fit and decent outriggers you didn't want to have to move. I've seen this tank difference issue raised elsewhere, so I'm honestly surprised the manufacturer hasn't rectified it by now.

Has *anybody* seen a front fuel tank outrigger with that notch cut out like the picture above? I have no idea what the notch is for..

I can live with not knowing what the notch is for, although if it's intentional it _will_ have a purpose.

What I don't want to do is fit it as is and realise over time it's a mistake by the manufacturer because nobody has ever seen another one like it..

I had issues with a tank on a series three 8 or 9 years ago, took a bit of hacking around to fit. The notch may just be a "Tooling Aid" to locate the part in a jig during manufacture, remember these are now low volume and may be made differently than using full on progression press tools.
