So, the painful part......

Short engine, with new crankshaft, con rods, pistons, camshaft.
Oil pump and casing kit
Hydraulic lifter kit.
£2900

Heads re-skimmed, valve guides etc
Gaskets, idler wheels, hoses etc..
Labour
£1800

Eye watering in deed, but the rest of the car is mint so I'll be keeping it for a long long time!

Just thought you should know the costs of this process.

Just drive normally, running in isn't required. Don't drive too gently and don't thrash it - other than that just drive.

If it wasnt already in bits I would say k seal it and put it on ebay, even at a loss it would save you cash lol

That's a bit underhand. Can you imagine saving hard to buy your dream Range rover only to have it die after a few weeks?

Well, all seems to be good now, have just towed my twin axle caravan down to Longleat, 230 miles from home, the outside temperature on the M5 was 30 degrees!!!

I did 1200 miles of running it at 50 - 55mph on petrol and have not used the LPG yet, except to test it on tick over to ensure it was working when it came back from the garage.

I have decided to tow my caravan on petrol for this holiday which will be about 800 miles by the time I get home - I'll start using LPG when I get home as the engine will be well and truly run in by that point.

It will cost a lot more on fuel, but having spent as much as I have on the engine, I don't want to run any risks particularly as LPG runs hotter, or so I am told...
