New donut.

I went in to a local 4x4 specialist for a new rear propshaft rubber donut yesterday. Nearly fell through the floor when they said it was £31.95! I've seen them on eBay for less than a tenner! Anyway, the parts man said that they don't stock those cheap ones because they don't last long. Cheap and nasty rubber, apparently. He reckons if I fitted one, I'd be fitting another one in 3 months. So I bit the bullet and forked out for the OEM one. Fitted it today and what a difference! Doesn't feel like my front wheels are attached to my back wheels with a bungy any more 😄

Yeah the cheap ones don't last long at all,Its worth doing the 200 prop retrofit in the long run

Even on ebay, the OEM kits; donut, HTS bolts, nylock nuts and the inner bush will cost around 40 quid.

You only get what you pay for.

^^+1. I bought a cheap one last about a month....buy cheap but twice!!

If you look hard enough you will find GKN ones, ( originally fitted from the factory ), on ebay for £15.00.

I was feeling rich and so supported my local LR dealership by paying £70 for a proper GKN LR kit. Which incidentally only gives you 3 new bolts not six and a new centreing bush

Diff.

Ouch! I just used the old bolts. I don't think there's much can go wrong with a bolt, lol.

When this donut wears out, I will. Will it fit straight on or will I need a spacer or something?

U can buy a conversion kit from paddocks for about £40.well worth doing

Mine needs doing. I was looking at the 200tdi conversion but had people say thats its quite a big job to do? Think im going to replace with a mew qualoty bush and see how long it lasts.

No hardest part is getting the center pin out u need hardened bolt and nut and if lifted then u should fit the spacer as well

Christ i am just about to do mine on my td5 i didnt realise you had to use new bolts and bushes i was just gonna replace rubber with cheap ebay part but i will spend a bit more on origanal parts now i know. Cheers gents.
