New disc and pad swap, cant move wheel!

Its an ES model, afaik these always had alloys!

Bit peeved given that it is unusable at the moment, good idea about the offset!

Yes it will have come with alloys, but probably not the ones on it now.
They might have been changed because the were damaged or scuffed.

Where in mid Wales? I'm driving from Cardiff to Bangor and back next weekend. If you haven't got it sorted by then you could try one of your wheels on mine and one of mine on yours if you want.

You have early wheels, fitted to a later model...

You need alloy wheels from an 01>on model, or steels...

On the plus side, I am looking for a set of early alloys for my car, if you are looking to part with them

I'm assuming you have the 5 spoke 16" wheels fitted, The design of these wheels was changed slightly in 2000 because of the bigger brakes fitted to the TD4. The only way you can tell by looking at them is that the post 2000 wheels have some small holes (they don't go all the way through) at the base of each spoke between the wheel nut holes, the pre 2000 wheels dont have the holes.

Yes, the little holes are between the wheel nut holes, these don't have them.

Some folks refer to the 'little holes' as 'dimples'.

I can remember somone in a previous thread some time ago saying that the 'dimple check' for age and fitting possibility was not 100% certain.

In my experience it holds good, but perhaps someone else can confirm.

All the post 2001 alloy wheels I've seen have had the dimples.

You can see them clearly on my 17" wheels - the 16" ones are similar.

I thought about using "dimples" but they are too deep for dimples, maybe recesses......
Hadn't heard that, I thought it was a sure fire way of telling if they are pre or post 2000 but having said that they are Land Rover wheels so who knows !!.
I've got 5 of the "with Dimples" & an extra spare without dimples for my 2003 TD4, doesn't matter to me because I've got 30mm spacers on but I've just had a bit of a rough measure up & the slots between spokes are about 14 mm wider & the back of the spokes have about 10 mm extra clearance on the "with dimples" wheels so in my case the dimple rule holds good.

My 'facelift' 2003 TD4 16" wheels does not have the dimples. I have just changed discs and pads and nothing rubs!!

why does everyone think he's changed the wheels?

May be an earlier owner changed the wheels and this is the first time the OP has changed the discs and pads since.

My guess is that when everything is worn they're thinner so wrong wheels go on, previous owner may have put them on just to sell it? But the first time the discs and pads are changed it becomes a problem cos suddenly they poke out an extra 5mm or so which is now enough to catch the wheels?

Just changed the front discs and pads, all ok, put the wheel on cant move it as it is tight up against the caliper, all parts used are OEM.

The caliper appears to be approx 4mm outward, this happens on both sides!

Any thought please as very fed up at the mo!

wrong wheels for year, just fit some spacers, also check rear wheel spokes are not touching drum and this will confirm wrong wheels. going by some posts ive read
