finally a bit of news!
a customer service advisory called me back after two days, he reckons its a bit of a common problem and they need to have it back to reset the engine control unit
its not going to happen till next wednesday so it obviously isnt top priority!
all i can say is hope its not any of you i shunt into the back of or pull out in front of on a round about!
ill keep you informed
last on the list, they seem to have forgot to produce any accesories yet, no floor mats, load liners etc..

wtf? "need it back to reset the ECU" - just disconnect the battery for 30 secs - that should do it ;)

think its a bit more in depth than just disconecting the battery, some what a soft ware problem
any way its got so bad now that its unsafe to drive round the lanes so i called landrover assistance at 11 this morning and they are going to send a technician at 4 this afternoon! lucky im not broken down on the side of a motor way!
think ill buy german again next time

It is all called "PROGRESS".

The purpose of "progress" is to get more or your money under false pretences when you first buy the thing, and then later to keep on stealing your money so long as you continue to own it.

well its back from the dealer, worse now than its ever been! they say this is how it is. b0?!ocks is what i say
i fix mercs all day long and dont get any grief like this.
any one else bought one of these four wheel drive transits yet?

I had a go in a new Defsit last week while ours was in for service. I dont think it goes any better than the td5.
the only sales pitch was how superb the heater is. But after years of drivin 90's and Deafeners, I wernt really interested.

I suppose I had been considering a Defsit, but given the fact that GB wants £300 tax this year and £400 next, I shall most likely stick with what we got.

Which raises another question,
what will the tax be on a new tranny?

its got a transit engine in it
phoned the dealer and the bloke in service said drive it for a week, done 150 miles now and its still the same
phoned my friendly sale man then who smiled when he took my cheque for 22 and a half grand, he is as helpful as a chocolate fire guard now hes had my cash
We're the guinea pigs with new vehicles, do you like the dash?

Hmmmm.....when I moaned to Ford about my Transit they claimed it was EURO 4 emissions related and the slow "off throttle" response was to ensure no unburnt fuel was dispatched into the exhaust. I would imagine that a chip reprogram by somebody like Superchips would sort it out,but that costs £500....
There is talk of an unofficial modification to stop it happening, though it shouldn't happen in the first place... my Renault Kangoo 1.5 DCi 80 turbo diesel van (Euro 4 compliant) doesn't have the problem, and as for performance,it goes like a rat up a drain.
I still can't get my TD5 Defender to run right though! See my other post. According to Land Rover it's "emissions related" !

i think that spending £500 on some thing that i have paid over £22,000 for is defeating the object!
as for emissions i dont get any of these problems with mercs, now i know why ive got a sprinter and not a transit!
