Just seen a picture of what the new defender could look like which is meant to be coming out in 2013. What you think to it ?

Not to bad actually. Think it looks a bid weird at the moment, but then so do most new cars. This isnt going to be built in the same labour-intensive way as the current model though, and it wont have a ladder frame chassis, from what I read somewhere.

Side view would diffo be a G wagen clone. From the front it just looks like a boxy disco/freelander clone.... I think it would be much less bolt on parts, as that is what costs so much. Question then, is how will they be able to make such a diverse range, if they are all on a production line.... from military wolf, through civvy types, commercial types, and then special vehicles. Not an easy feat by any means...

hmmmm, not sure about the bumper, makes it look odd but the rest isn't too bad:( not a 'proper' defender tho is it, can't see many of the old farmers round here rushing to buy one:rolleyes:

that must be like an xs top spec model etc, the basic one probs looks better:D and more farmer freindly

but i do agree it will never be a proper defender:D

think the farmers will all have to stick with the ones they have, or turn to jap crap.... does this mean our "proper" defenders might start to appreciate?

We should all start panic buying immediately, to ensure stock for the future!!!!

Shocked me at first, but then the more i look at it the more it makes sense

Think it may grow on people over time

I still love the proper defender though

I think we could convert them with old parts to look like the real thing.

Buy in front wings, headlight assemblies and head light finishers.

Don't panic I am sure there will be plenty of older Defenders to go round! I wonder what it will be based on...will they ditch coil springs for air? In which case complete new chassis, who's in the know on here? :) Who knows what it will look like.

Disco chassis would be a bad move IMHO as it will be heavy. Isn't the Disco/Range Rover Sport chassis being replaced in a few years for a lighter aluminium one anyway?

ye i read there changing it to an aluminium but going to get the old one for the defender, was in lro couple of months back

In the first picture, Someone has photoshoped Range Rover bits onto a G-wagon body ffs

If they keep it as simple as possible with the regulations, Improve rust protection, Make it better onroad whilst keeping it good off road. Oh and they need to make it easy to modify!

They are apprently designing it on the T3 base and If you look at a Disco 3, We might be in luck. There is about 8 bolts, Some wiring, Linkages ect to remove the body, The Disco 3 is also very good off road, very good on road :)

They are not going to please everyone though.. Fact of life.
