New defender owner

Hi folks.
I’ve just (or nearly) finished restoring and upgrading my 1996 csw. I’m really happy with it but have one issue I haven’t been able to resolve. I wonder if any of you can help. I think it should have an intermittent function on the wipers but it doesn’t work. Having done a bit of homework I was in doubt if it did actually have this function. I realised the fuse kept blowing when the putting the wiper switch downward to the intermittent position. I first changed the motor, no joy then I changed the switch, still no joy.

Any suggestions?? I’ve also been reading about the relay maybe being a problem. If this was the problem, does anyone know if I can change it for the programmable relay??

The relay sounds a good starting point.
Worrying if the fuse keeps blowing though, unless the relay is doing it.
I'd check for shorts too.
