Yes in the 2007 model year, but you said 2000 on to 2006 was not bmw:D

Have to admit I didn't know they still used bimmer engines up to 2006, but in your first post on this thread you stated the new 2.2 in the Defender was a 'transverse BMW' motor, that was what I was on about.

Anyway as said above by others, who gives a **** really, wish LR would get hold of some proper engines. If it wasn't for the fecking EU dictators we could have any engines we wanted!

Silly thing is, Landy could have used better engines. Why oh why oh why did they not put the 2.7 V6 diesel in there. They could also have used the 3.2 variant of the Jaguar AJV8 engine as a petrol alternative.

Cost is the reason I would imagine. Is there a manual transmission available for the 2.7, or are they all auto/semi auto?

I have a friend who works with landrover teaching the technicians about new faults, he says the new engine is a 3litre bmw engine, same gear box as the last one and near 300bhp apparently :)

Disco3 could be had with a manual 6 speed.

Cost maybe, although the Defender is quite profitable, so would have thought there was scope.
