So I've had the TF Big Bore +2 Dampers fitted to my 110 for the past year but in 5k miles one of the fronts has started leaking oil which is just poor. I was prepared to put up with the terrible finish but not a leaking damper. If one has gone this soon then I can't imagine the others will be that far behind.

So looking for new dampers, not entirely certain what to buy this time round all I know is I would like some +2 dampers

As for spec its a 110 DCPU, TF "medium load" springs (sits about +2"), no ARBs, Gywn Lewis cranked trailing arms with HD sliders, steering/tranny/diff/tank guards, NAS Step and will have a winch + HD bumper on the front and a full cage so I would like to keep those in mind when going for new dampers.

Driving is 70/30 on road/off road. Laning, P&Ps and that kind of thing, not so much racing etc...

Looked at the Extreme4x4 Challenge Dampers which seem decent for £47.99 a piece, but given the name quite hard to find any info about them online.

Old Man Emu is also a choice but I can't find any +2 dampers?

Bilstein B6s as well but they don't seem to do +2s either

Any other suggestions? Would Ideally like to stay below £100 a corner...

I have more or less the same problem with TF dampers on my D1. They seem to have got just out of warranty.....:mad::mad::rolleyes: I am not impressed, and SWMBO's D1 needs new rear dampers quite soon.... so I'll be interested in anyone's replies to the thread...

Need something with a bit more "goodness" in them from the start ;) .....

Yours may have popped within the warranty period, you just did not notice...:oops:.That probably does not help, does it?

Cheers

Sadly, that doesn't help ;) - much like the convo with Craddocks who supplied them o_O

Given I've got me own ramp, I do keep a careful watch on both D1's - largely because of their proclivity to rot like a b@stard  .....

I'm gonna forgive the dampers on SWMBO's, as they are blue box specials, and have lasted something like ten years - so might even consider some more of them :eek: :confused:o_O

Dont make the poor sod feel worse :p

I wouldnt have noticed if it wasnt for the MOT!

Get yoursen a ramp - deffo worth it :)

You can get portable scissor lift types, and also moveable four posters too.... this is going, ahem, "ever so slightly" off topic, but have a nosy here....

Nice one!! I will have a good look at those for when the time comes!

and ermm well now back to dampers!!

Not found any +2" OME Dampers but did find full OME 40mm/2" lift kits? Though I'm guessing thats just the spring not the damper..

hmmm Fox Racing shocks arnt tooo expensive though are they £75 a corner better than the Extreme4x4?

I’m sure OME do longer shocks. But you’ll probably need to find part numbers and lengths. Rather than as a kit.

Biggest trouble with any shock/damper question is. Few people ever get to perform side by side comparisons. So it’s hard to know how one brand performs vs another. And different setups will result in different answers.

Eg ProComp are a huge company. And I’m sure they wouldn’t sell what they do in the USA if they are no good. But they have mixed opinions here in the U.K.

The Extreme shocks you are looking at. I don’t know much about them. But isn’t Extreme somehow related to Scorpion Racing or am I remembering it wrong.

I’ve got Rough Country shocks on my Series at the moment. And they seem fine. I bought them from Llama4x4. David is a really decent chap and likes a chat on the phone. Give him a call and he will advise what to get, even if he doesn’t sell it!!

Yeah I know you what mean, thats why I listed what I do and whats on the Landy, maybe get a closer comparison.

I've no idea but Scorpion Racing isnt around anymore ay? That said I did see a lovely 90 in silver with Scorp racing all over it a few months ago in Chancery Lane! Looked awesome.

For what Extreme seem to be offering it is a very good price, then again thats what I thought with TF so not sure where to go.

Couldnt find much on OMEs website either but I'll give a few people a call see what they have to say! Thanks for the tip :)

I’ll have to have a dig for the OME myself. If I recall they where a lot more money.

Fox racing have a great rep thanks to things like the Ford Raptor and others bringing them to the wider market. But suspect you need to know what you are buying with them. Sadly I don’t know much about their range suitable for a Land Rover.

But I would highly recommend giving David a call at Llama4x4
