New Chassis wiring loom, on top or inside ?

Seems about even votes for inside vs outside. I'm going with outside as it's easier!

can you stick some pics on mate when you have done it ?

My series chassis rail once bent[on a 4x4 trial] where the loom went in [weak point] so plated it all up and ran a tough trailer cable to the rear attached to the bottom of the tub.

I photograph everything!

Got some heavy duty cable ties to attach it. My theory is if I use enough of them even if a couple wear through I should notice before it comes off.

If I was putting it on the out side I'd use plastic coated metal p clips as opposed to tie wraps.

I would, but as it is a galv chassis I am trying not to drill into or screw anything to it.

I know exactly what you're saying, I had the same predicament.
On mine their was no holes for the brake pipe clips. So had to drill them. As much as I didn't want too.
I personally can't see it affecting it that much with half a dozen 6mm holes in it.

You are probably right. I'll see how secure it is with the ties, then make a decision.

Look up "Split Copex" , a flexible conduit, split along its its length to allow easy access. Available by the meter from electrical wholesalers

Did mine today, opted for running it on top of chassis as it was easier to fix than fitting it to the body.

Fished the loom through the pipe with some old brake pipe straightened out, would have been easy to put it all through the chassis but its safe enough on top for me

My vote is outside - but secured out of the way, and preferably some sort of plastic coated metal clip of something. As you can get to it on the outside, and you could also then pours some old engine oil in the chassis, and weld it up! - Unless its galv, then I wouldn't bother.

in the end I gave up
Looks like it will be fitted on the outside of the chassis

It's the way forwards

I felt like that with the steering arm ball joint yesterday.

I am using a combination of really long jubilee clips (with rubber to stop it cutting in) and cable ties to keep mine in place

How'd it go? Go it on the outside now? What did you end up using to secure it to the chassis?

I used pclips and pop rivets to fasten my loom on,hopefully won't fall off

Have not done anything yet mate
spent the weekend picking up various bits
will have a look this weekend

Mine is on top and cable tied in place in a number of places.

It runs along with the fuel pipes and rear tank wiring and goes under the rear tank bracket. So if it comes off I have more important things to worry about!

In reality I don't think it would ever go anywhere, but I plan to go overkill with the cable ties just incase

When i get round to doing my new galv chassis swap i mite do the wiring loom like i did my series wiring loom and run it up inside as you can inspect it better and alter it if needed
