As you know I am in the process of an engine rebuild. I am trying to get hold of a slightly sexier cam shaft. However, talking to PIPER cams today they suggested I send the old one in and they will regrind it for me with a slightly better profile.
I quite like this idea as I have long since lost trust in new parts due to bad quality.

Whats your thoughts - worth doing? price is about the same.

loads of the racing boys get cams reprofiled so no probs expected.
have fun, just be honest about how you will REALLY drive it. got a mate who rebuilt an engine for his kit car with a hot cam..its magic between 4500 and 6500 revs but gutless outside that and that doesnt make for restfull driving..even he's admitted he wishes he'd got a milder cam

Thanks - I know what you mean. I am a bit concerned that the chap doing the machining wants to turn it into flyer. I have emphasised that I don't want to compromise on the plod ability and low end torque. I also like the near silent running at tick over around 500rpm.
