bought the centre carpet piece and made the rest, used a stainless trim ( ebay ) to trap the carpet but also glued all. you can buy a centre console on the bay but the quality is suspect for me
Do you remember where you brought from? All the other carpet ones I've seen didn't look anywhere near as well made as that makes a really nice finish
Yeah the quality and the fact my gear levers don't match anything makes me think be easier just to make my own console the gear lever comes out just into seatbox and high low infront so nothing standard will fit anyway

mind you I did have to 'modify' a little

mine has no electric windows or central locking but so what? love the car, but if its a daily driver - invest in some sound deadening. Best thing I have done

Because central locking and electric windows would mean it's County spec, which adds around £1,000 to the value.

well there is some crap talked on here - but this is the most. I would never pay £1000 for that but what do I know! its a fookin Defender!!

It may be crap, but it's true. Many people will pay more for County and particularly XS spec as they often want to use them as cars.
Not sure l'd buy a base spec 110 SW as the lack of central locking would be a pain....as l do a lot of transporting of kids and use the vehicle all day for my business.

I think you find his was a 90. But hey ho - in your words if no central locking - it's no good. Bet you vote Labour as well!

I didn't say it was no good. I said many people will pay more for a County or XS as they want the extras.
£1000 my arse! Base model all day long - think I will disconnect the power steering on mine tomorrow - as top Valuer - will this effect my value by more or less than £3000!!? In fact if I then take out the radio will you take it off my hands if I offer you £327 cash to do so!

The County spec sells for around £1,000 more.
Whether or not you think the County pack is a waste of time, it increases the value of a used tdci.
Look at the values in the Land Rover magazines. In the same way that a SW is worth more than a HT.
The OP asked if the Defender he was looking to buy was worth the money. I asked if it was County spec as it will sell for more to many tdci buyers, who want to use them as daily drivers, and will pay for the higher spec.

Out of pure interest - are you on the beer!

No but l do have a friend who sells about ten Defenders every month, mostly tdci. And l know what the various versions will sell for.
Don't forget l am talking tdci. The version (base, County) matters less with TD5 and barely at all with tdi where condition is paramount.
Most tdci's are not rotten....yet

TDCi buyers are different. The local Autoglass guy regularly fits heated screens to non-XS tdci Defenders for Guy Salmon.
Then Guy Salmon do the electrics. Total cost to the customer? £1,000

Just installed one to my BASE model nil valued taxi Everything with you is a £1000. You should consider becoming a car jiggelo !!

It's not with me. It's what people are paying.
l fitted a heated screen in my Defender and l did the wiring myself, it cost in total £370, including £250 to supply and fit the screen.

And l didn't say a heated screen would increase the value. I said a Defender tdci with the County or XS pack will sell for more (than a similar model without it)

So - what you are saying is :- the only worthwhile landrover to own is a defender 110 with central locking, power steering, electric windows and now you have added a fookin heated screen. You ( or your best friend ) can sell 120 yes 120 of these a year for £1000 !
Is that each?

That's not what he's saying at all. He's saying one like that is worth 1k more than a van type spec.

Any defender with a/c and heated screen is easily worth 1k more as in my opinion they are getting to be essentials
