Hi guys, new to this forum, but member if many others, so i'll dive right in :) where's the best place to purchase new discs and pads all round for my 2002 4.4 V8 HSE. I've been told X5 parts are interchangeable, is this true?

:welcome2:

There's no one place for parts just personal preference really. most of the online sellers offer a choice between genuine parts, oem and some aftermarket. these are supplied by large parts consolidators and you'll hear the names of Allmakes and Britpart etc. Both have their fans and their detractors. Personally with brakes I'd suggest getting the best you can afford, you are basically driving a 2 1/2 tonne tank so stopping is quite a big deal -especially when it doesn't!

Don't know about the X5 parts.

The standard brakes are quite adiquate and need no modification, if serviced on a regular basis. They are designed to retard a fully loaded vehicle plus a 750Kg unbraked trailer. More than enough for normal everyday use.

Yes it is true that X5 parts are interchangable. I had to change my front calipers and got some via a BWM part seller for half the price that LR were going to charge me for exactly the same part. For those who don't believe me - take a L322 caliper off and you will see BMW written on the side of it!

I don't know if there will be much difference in the discs and pads price between LR and BMW, but its worth a quick look if it saves you some money!

Could do no worse than send me a trade price request.......;)

couldn't help noticing you're a sachs dealer? so although digressing from the main theme here, can you please tell me if there's any difference between boge and sachs in terms of their p38 shocks? they're the same company, right?
