Hi
As a new member, but a long standing Land Rover owner and restorer of a few in the passed.
Current use : Freelander TD4, after fifteen years with a classic Range Rover with 300 TDI fitted by myself (best lump ever) with uprated pump and drilled out waterways, balanced giving a good 150 plus BHP,and still going.
Nearly finished a 1988 one owner Land Rover 90 to a Tomb Raider sprayed Bonatti Grey, fitted with a 200TDI and intending to swop with the 300 TDI from the Classic and then sell the classic.
Impressed with the Freelander as not so agriculture for everday use, you can hear the CD player! trying to sort out the Kenlowe pre heat at the moment, as standard TD4 is slow on warm up with no FBH.
Any advise on this greatly appreciated.

Must be a gay comment from someone with clean hands! only costs money when you pay someone to do it

So far not spent any apart from servicing, they aint as bad as many make out, electrics corrode causing problems with ECU etc, but the TD4 is the better if you maintain it religiously. Anyway for a gay vehicle it bends over for me!!

Your spot on. Half the numptys on here have only just learned how to pronounce Freelander, so I wouldn't worry about their comments.
Like the Classic RR with uprated 300tdi motor. Was seriously tempted myself to try to find a tdi auto classic but when I was looking some joker wanted nearly £6k for one with 150k on the clock & that was all that was around. After getting my Td4 I saw one with 72k on the clock being sold by someone made redundant for £1350, it didn't hang around for long.

RR Classic in auto are rare in original guise, conversions are around, but the gearbox alterations to suit the TDI can be unreliable. the best is manual, although they can seem a little hi geared in first in hi range if attacking a slope, but the uprating works to the 300TDI is worth it as the fuel levels are good and you can cruise on motorways at illegal limits at comfort although it is still noisy.
Great all round vehicle the classic.
