Leaking steering box is an M.O.T fail this year :rolleyes:

Give it a good clean up and stick some Lucas steering rack and box leak stop in it.

If it's only a ickle drip I been told a top up with brake fluid will cure it ;)

That'll be one less drip any how ;) :D :D
 
From what I can see the leak from the steering box is the worst of the leaks but on my lovely clean driveway these drips might as well be lit up with multi-coloured Christmas tree lights. They stand out so obviously :(

It's having some work done as I write this and that leak is on the list to be investigated.
 
Bit of an update......
Since my last visit to this thread my 110 CSW has had -

1 - A big service inc. complete brake overhaul + all g,box, diff oils replaced
2 - New high output alternator (just in case)
3 - New windscreen and rubber (it was badly perished)
4 - Wiper spindle/clamp replaced (still not right so that'll all be replaced)
5 - New rear step
6 - Sunroof removed and re-sealed (still not right, will get that done myself)
7 - New to me (second hand;)) alloy wheels and BFG AT tyres fitted
8 - All main door seals replaced

Other parts I've bought for leak repairs and have yet to fit...
2 x new vent seals
2 x new Alpine window seals and filler piece
1 x new windscreen to bulkhead bracket gasket

I will fix that water ingress issue!

The other jobs I have lined up are...
Stop the slight second gear crunch (been quoted £780 for a fitted recon box)
Get the body cappings replaced because of corrosion either side of the rear door (been quoted a tad over a grand for that)

The list seems to be long and expensive but I'm enjoying myself and it's still WAY cheaper than my old RS4 :)

Alpine seals on my list - water pouring in passenger internal gutter area in the rain we've had - let me know how easy it is/n't..... Trouble is I have to face taking the roof rack off first....

btw your footwell water - have you checked the wheel arch/footwell 'seam' - mine are both well rusted through on an x plate 212000 miler. The usual suspects sell ready made plates to replace, and a mate has just bought a welder.... hmmmmm.

I aim to please :D

Until these alpine window seals arrive I have no idea what this filler piece is. All I know is I might be able to do it with a blunt screwdriver but I should by a special tool, we'll see.

The water in my foot well is coming in from the lowest of the 3 bolts holding on the windscreen bracket. It just trickles in and no amount of sealant on the bracket outside has stopped it.
I now think it's coming in the vent and rolling inside and onto the bolt in the cavity, hence the new vent seals.

I think it's possessed by the Greek god Poseidon, King of the sea, and lord of all sea Gods, God of rivers storms and floods. He's parked up in my car somewhere having a right laugh.

Yes, the windscreen seal is new. I can actually see it dripping in from that bolt head

Ah! Window to bulkhead seal absolutely right, I forgot about that one. I could replace that too but can you get it in without lifting the roof off?

I don't know of anyone who's done it :(

I wouldn't think you need to remove the roof but I suspect you would need to unbolt it so you can get enough clearance to remove and replace.

Probably get shot here but I was thinking of just Tiger sealing the outside of mine :D :D :D

In this weather your sun roof and roof behind headlining will collect condensation and drip water every where, running down front screen pillars and anywhere else it can get. I have tucked a piece of cloth in the trim around sunroof so the sun roof is covered and that has stopped most of it. If you take your headlining down to recover it it pays to insulate the roof with closed cell foam, loads of threads on here about it.

Excellent! Thanks, another possibility to track and fix. The headlining when I got it was covered in mold, which I have since cleaned off. I assumed it was from all the damp foliage from the previous owners job as a landscape gardener but maybe it's from the sunroof...hmm.

The headlining needs replacing/recovering anyway so that could come down. At the same time I'd be covering it in that stuff I've seen at Lasalle interiors or camping mats??

I have not done it myself, but have a read there are plenty of posts about it what adhesive to use etc. Water ingress is a fact of life with defenders, as you are posh and have carpets it will help to take them out sometimes to dry out.
If you look in the for sale section you will find some cheap knacker protectors along with patience and anti frustration pills.

As for your heater clean out the matrix ;)

Despite the rumours there's nowt wrong with Fender heaters, fortunately I can still drive mine in the winter with the window wound down :D :D :D
