I havent done any Landy wiring before, but I have fitted a smart centre console to my Def90 f-reg and need to bring the wiring from the right knee position to the centre console, to be re-switched with Carling switches. Can anyone help me with a how-to? Also I need to power the stereo in the console. Is it just a question of bringing a live from the battery, going into a small fuse block, and then out to the stereo? Best way to run this?

It's a lot to ask, but I am very grateful for any help offered!!
Thanks and Happy Crimbo!!

I didnt mention that I want to separate the switching of the dash lights from the interior light - at present it is all handled by one switch in the right pod.

You should be powering the stereo from an ignition live really in order to avoid flattening the battery but yes you can take a live feed from the battery however there should be a feed at the fuse box already for your stereo.

What switches do you have at your right knee? Heated rear window and fog lights on mine...... These would be easy to move by simply extending the wiring making sure that the wire is of a suitable power rating.

If you need to run multiple wires get some 7 core tow bar cable, it won't be the same colour codes but makes life easier.

I have the hazard and an annoying 3-position one that does dash lights, or interior light, or all off. I want to separate them so that the dash lights are on one circuit and the int light on another. There is no third switch!

I have my stereo running straight from the 2nd battery. As well as cigar sockets. I have a small blade fused box on a bulkhead inside a Tupperware box that provides a fuse for everything.

In order to not drain the battery by the stereo drawing power when 'off' I have a switch next to it that kills it completely. I would be paranoid that the battery would drain without it!

If you run the stereo straight from battery there are two wires you have to join to the positive feed not just one to make it work. Google it.

Multiple type switches will have 3 connectors. One power in, two wires as options for where to send that power. Simply buy two single type switches and move the wires.

Fuse everything. Everything! And make sure if switches, stereos, sockets etc share a power lead it's thick enough.

Check out the Carling website, buy the correct switches and change one at a time.

It may help if you put your location on.

If you go to vehicle wiring products website, you can buy the correct wiring colours, and all manner of connectors etc. Bit more expensive than using trailer cable, but makes the wiring so much easier as the wire colours at the new switches will be correct. Much easier in the future if you need to fix something. And you will :D
