I have one of these in the car,

Crenova 8233D DMM

Probably exactly the same inside...LOL

Only thing to remember is too swap the leads if checking the DC current. otherwise a fuse change is generally required.

Cheers

Now I cant see a link
I know what you mean these things tend to be churned out of some Chinese factory and put into a casing by someone in Malaysia, then shipped here there are scores of OBD2 readers and I bet many of they are related to one another

If you're talking about a Digital Multimeter (DMM) then 13 quid is a bit much for something that's likely to get chucked about in the garage.
This is very similar to two of my DMMs. So far they both do the job, they show when I've got 12 volts and when I haven't. They show when I've got a working bulb or fuse, and they also show when there's 240 volts AC mains on a lead so I don't go touching it.

That one is pretty cheap, if it works OK, should be no great concern about it getting a knock.

The one shown in my link is the XL830L. I have exactly that one and it does me OK, I use it for almost all my electrical work, including PCs and radio work.
The only problem I've ever found with a digital display is when I'm trying to tune up a circuit when you're looking for a peak or a dip in a voltage, not just a value of voltage. But if your just checking volts, current and ohms then it'll do you just as well as a more expensive device.
I also have a DMM made by Simpson, that cost a small fortune at the time and it's no better than the XL830L.
The only thing I would advise is that you get a couple of extra sets of leads, they're the weak point, but they are cheap as chips anyway but make sure that you get the right plugs one them, there are at least two different types.

I got one from maplins for three quid. Use it all the time and its lasted the last ten years.

They aint on the site but they generally have a stack in a bargain bucket by the checkout.
