Before you lambast me I have searched and cannot find the answer

I bought my first Land Rover a couple of weeks ago and its a 1990 2.5td19j pickup

I am totally new to all this and have never had any experience of mechanics or fxing cars etc

First problem has now happened and it wont start!! after i warm it and try to start it wont kick in and I just get a rapid clicking noise!!

I have searched for what it could be and decided to try the hammer on the starter motor and also check the connections

Stupid question time:doh: can someone tell my the location of the starter motor?? a picture would be good

thanks

same as i just had with works van. Battery putting out enough voltage? Transit was only giving 12v. fully charged they about 14v.Starter motor will always be at the back of the block, as it works on the flywheel. Personly I would either put battery on charge, or connect up jump leads to another car, and see if that makes any difference. Cold oil thicker than warm, so it will always tabe more power to spin the engine over. My van wouldnt start on its own, wack the lears on and fired straight up.

thanks guys

I think you may be right about the battery

Ive bought a power pack to jump it and will let you know how it goes

power pack takes 36hrs to charge before first use though:doh:
