Right guys, been plodding along puting my 95 v8 4.0 gems out of my range rover back toghether after the head gasket went and hit a little stumbling point.

So far I've had the heads skimed and partially rebuilt, new cam, tappets and timing gear. Decided I'd better check the state of my oil pump...

Well, I've got to put my hands up at this point, I need some more experienced eyes to see if the pump is past it, its fine according to the tolerances on rave but its the scoring I'm concerned about. There's light scoring on the pump gears, timing cover and retaining plate.

Can someone take a peak at these pics and give me an opinion please? At best I'm hoping its ok or its just the pump but am I going to need to replace the timing cover as well?

The problem is that the alloy housing holds abrasive particles in its surface which abrades the rotor parts.

You can get new rotors, but the complete housing is about £250 if the housing is too far gone to use again.

which is also the reason one replaces rockers with rocker shafts
