Hi,was getting blend motors done on warranty but the garage wont do due to cost £1600! (apparently they have to use dealer parts?) so have offered me cash to go to an independant,I dont mind so I'm looking for someone near Sheffield who maybe able to do the job or at least give me a quote so I can get as much quid off dealer as poss. Thanks 1legtim.

Are they saying that the blend motors cost £1600?? Because thats a load of rubbish. Ive not had the pleasure of doing mine (yet) but I know from previous posts about this the motors themselves are around £300. (I think thats right, I cant remember exactly but its DEF not £1600). However I have seen other prices as low as £190. Its 2:24am so cant ring the dealer to check :D

They may of got to that price by the dealer saying they would fit them I guess which again is a stupidly high price.

The part number for the motors is STC3259, that is for all 3 motors with their respective wires all going into the single plug that you plug into the HeVAC panel.

See Blend Motor Diagnosis and Replacement for more info.

I know the garage you got your P38 from said they would give you the cash for this operation but hmmm, they gave you the warranty, they should honor that and replace the buggers, its not your problem they didnt know how expensive and long winded things could be with a Range Rover.

If you do decide to go with their suggestion then hopefully someone will be along soon to suggest a good specialist. Failing that, with the help from that page you could almost replace them yourself depending on how 'DIY' you feel. You could then invoice the garage and get a few £££ for your labour costs??

Still, good luck with whatever you do and let us know how it all turned out!

Hi,

Look on EBay for Mobile Landrover Services, I use this guy for everything and initially it was for my Blend Motors. (This ebay link is just for this).

£300 and he comes to your house, fits the parts and goes.. He has been and done various other things such as full service, gaskets etc and to be honest, well worth the money.. He lives in Dudley and I live in Hampshire, so travelling is not an issue..

GIve Jason a try, I fully recommend him.. Just tell him Tim in Hampshire recommended him

I know a few on the forum have used him and would backup my comments..

screw em to the wall over it, its just another bloody insurance that takes your money and dont wana give you the service you paid for!!
take it to main dealer, or get main dealer money from them! surely theres a policy somewhere that the garage gets paid from for there time and parts if your motor has a fault?
the whole point of a warranty is its covered for repair! why should you have to bugger about with this when you have paid not to??

Agreed, I keep hearing good things about this guy and his services. £300 sounds like a good deal, from some of the posts I have read about doing the replacements yourself- it a PITA. I think I would pay £50 of that just the get the glove box lid on perfect( that would bug me a lot!). Let us know how you get on.

Hi,thanks for feedback,I got the RR from a renault dealer as a trade in for my Bike,it stands me at £4500 and its mint. They replaced the discs, pads, central locking brains and the ABS brains,my mate works there so got it done right, the company is already losing money on the deal so I dont want to get my pal into any trouble,I think if I can find someone local(ish) then I can get a few quid off'em,thought of asking for a grand and walking away from the 3mth warranty I have? Just returned from a 600 mile trip to Scotland and she was magnificent, apart from the freezing interior!!

Set of motors from a dealer around £170. Replaced mine twice, once with the dash in-what a pain in the ass!! took me the weekend and could have got a job as a gynacologist after it. Second time, I removed the dash-major stripdown but at least I could access the motors easily and ensure they went inokay plus I had a look at the heater flaps to see if they were stiff. If the guy is charging £300 and is recommended by forum members-then go that way as doin it yourself is satisfying but a real pain.
By the way-taking the dash out and replacing the motors took a full weekend, started Friday night & finished Sunday afternoon.

I got a set of new genuine landrover part blend motors from one of the landy shops on ebay for 170 quid ......
going to be fitting them tomorrow ..... lolol

If you are doing it yourself, don't forget to change the heater water feed "O" rings-cost pence-save a lot of cussin later. If you are taking the dash out, be warned, it's heavy and will take two guys to get it out of the car and more importantly, back in. You will also have to get the blend motors calibrated by Test Book, Autologic or Rovacom afterwards to remove the book symbol as the flap position has to be taught-it's only a 10 minute job to do this and you can drive the car if necessary to get it done.
