my p38 is using lots of oil. any idea what could be wrong it doesnt seam to show any signs of oil on the floor.

it starts up fine on a cold engine once warm and turned off it takes a while to start. had spark plugs changed and new leads.

If it's not leaking it, it must be burning it. Could be blocked breather hoses, worn valve seals (Usual sign is smoking after engine has been stood for a while, smokes excessively on start up), or worn piston rings. Are the plugs a straw colour or black & oily when you remove them. How much oil do you reckon you are using, say per 1000miles?

hi mate it doesnt smoke when it starts up jus like a normal car. the plugs where clean i have just taken the inlet manifold off and rocker covers to change the gaskets.. will see if it has made any difference as i was fitting a lpg kit thought i change those as i had to take them off.

i would say it will drink a full level to every 600 miles or may be less

this problem of it not starting up properly once its warm has been sorted it was related to the blue connector at the front of the engine

When you say "Full level" do you mean from the full mark to the fill mark on the dipstick, which is approx. 1 litre?
If this is the case, it's still excessive as that would equate to using a full sump full every 5000miles.
If there are no signs of leakage, it must be burning it-unless it's evaporating!!
What oil are you using?
