That wasn't my experience when I took the roof of my yella Landy during a nice spell of weather a couple of summers ago - I had to beat the ladies off with a stick:)

O.K., O.K., I've been busted. It was the chavs who nicked the tax disc, when I parked it up, who deserved a stick beating. The ladies were loving the Landy though, when I took it for a spin down to a local beach with the roof and door tops off and the windscreen folded down.
 
Back to the original question, ex-military vehicles CAN have perfect original chassis. We recently stripped down a 1956 Series, still on military plates, never registered, chassis perfect. (Still never been registered, as other jobs got in the way...)
 
hate to say it but try Ebay ..... saw a S3 chassis on there the other week that needed little work + a load of odd bits some guy was getting rid of all went for £50 beleave it or not ....
