Hi guys and girls,
My Landrover discovery M reg mpi petrol estate has apparently got a cv joint needing to be replaced. Have been advised that the driveshaft has to come out to get fixed. My local garage has 2 week waiting list and im having to get this sorted asap please.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice I would be grateful. Basically there is a knocking sound when the steering wheel is turned and slight wheezing. It went on me as was going round a round abaout and now is quite dangerous to drive.
Many thanks
Christina

replacing a cv is quite straightforward can you do it or get someone to do it for ya? where abouts are you? also if its just started you can still drive comfortably for 2 weeks if you wanna use ur garage

Where in kent are you? I use these people, always been happy with them

I live in Birchington Kent CT7,
the nearest place that deals with landys has a two week waiting list. According to the local mechanic I got out to look at it...1. a landy specialist has to do it due to the tools needing to be used...2..the driveshaft needs to be taken out due to it being attached to the hub?

If there is anyone on here who has got half a clue about landys and could come have a look, as its not drive worthy that would be great.

Really want to get it back on the road by 20th July for War and Peace as taking my little ones there for there holiday.

There are no "specialist tools" needed just a decent set of spanners & sockets. Drive shaft removal is the simplest of jobs I replaced both front swivels and CV joints without the use of any "special tools"

You do need a 52mm socket for the hub nut. Other than that, a standard socket set and / or spanners will do. You can use it in the short term if you can wait. Avoid turns on full lock as that will strain the joint. If the joint or half shaft fails, you can still get traction with difflock engaged.
