Hi all

1989 DEFENDER 200 TDI

Ok hoping you can help me. Got a loud squeak coming from what sounds like the front end but hard to tell with your head out the window. Only happens in second, third, fourth and under moderate acceleration when moving only....not when stationary. Floor the acceleration and it does not do it....more maintaining speed at around 30 mph. Dip the clutch and it stops.....press the brake and it seems to carry on.

Wheel bearings checked and ok
Diff oil topped up...not that.

Any ideas?

Mate it sounds very much like one of them nasty Sqeeking Field Otters!

It may be hitching a ride somewhere on your Landy! Try checking inside the air filter! :D

Failing that i cant help, sorry dude

Prop Shaft uv joint was the problem....straight forwards to change but needed blow torch to heat up nuts and bolts to remove. Replaced all nuts and bolts at same time and bear in mind these are specials with fine threads. Spot on now!:D
