i have found a spring underneath my series 3 88 ( diesel ) :doh:,almost halfway down and halfway across.The spring is of the fat type.it looks like i have found where the loose end goes but if anyone knows what this is spring is for please help

Handbrake return Spring???

handbrake return spring sounds about right , if this spring is off would the vehicle be able to move or not,as mine is having what i thought was a normal brake problem ???????

sound like the handbrake lever spring wont make a hell of a lot of diffrance without it
the handbrake has large heavey springs to work the shoes and the button has its own inside the handle
guess the only thing your spring will do is hold the handle down tight and stop it vebrating
