hi
i bought a 2001 freelander 2.5 v6 auto with an lpg conversion, only done 67000 miles, had 1 previous owner since new. i got my mechanic to have a look at it and he seems to think it in good condition, except there is a tiny oil leak on the drivers side but have no idea where it coming from, only know it on the drivers side, have checked, oil filter, rocker gaskets, all leades, the bottom of the dipstick looks like it been repaired recently and the tray at the bottom of the engine had a small pool of oil in it under this area. any advice would be helpful.

Take the rock guard off, take it for a drive to warm it up, and park it somewhere level. Wait to see where the oil drips. Could be the drive shaft into the ird, engine crank shaft, inlet camshaft seal etc. oil tends to blow round quite nicely when the cars moving, so this should help show where the leak is coming from. Could be an old spill from the dip stick tube repair. The engine oil sump has a strange shape. Oil can sit on top of this. Nice to see another v6 owner on the Forum.

my boyfriend cleaned out some oil under the dip stick and havent seen anymore oil under car today so have to wait and see over night.
guess not to many people have v6 on here then?

They are not overly popular due to their liking of petrol :)
At least you should get quite reasonable economy with the LPG
