I once saw a Disco being driven away with wires coming out of the bonnet and into the cab, that was very weird looking and I told the police about it (almost like a spotter in case it was reported stolen).
:eek: Was that me???? I have a huge spotlight powered by the batteries, using crocky clips :D:D

Great news Martyn!!! Hopefully they've not hurt her too badly and she'll soon be home again and back to her former glory!! :D

Re suspicious characters; this has happened a few times here, I always try to get a vehicle ident, as well as observing behaviour of vehicle occupants and as much description as poss, and always call it in to the Bill; you can't be too vigilant, and there's no harm in it; one day it might save your (or someone elses') Landy! :)

Hi, yes great new - could have parked next to this landy and honestly wouldn't have given it a second look, no actually I would have thought - what sort of Pratt has butchered this lovely machine? it wasn't done thoughtfully and its been knocked about too so not the nicest sight in the world.
If I am able to get her back from the insurance company I intend to restore her to her former glory - wont be cheap because I don't feel I want to buy stuff off eBay unless anyone knows of really legitimate sellers. Seems to be so many dodgy people selling stolen stuff. think I really wouldn't want some poor owners parts on my Landy.
Watch this space, who knows what will happen but I will do anything I can to get her back - then bit by bit I will get my girl back to how she looked (I hope). Just out of interest does anyone know - when you buy a vehicle that has been recovered does the V5 show this or does it just continue where it left off before it was stolen? my landy was mine from new and it would be brilliant if I could still be the only registered keeper if they do let me buy her back. Martyn

hi,usually the insurance companies will ask for about 20% of the value of the vehicle,so if they paid out £4000 they will ask around £800 then you may be able to haggle, but find out first what cat of write of it's been classed as i.e a,b,c,d? if it's c or d your laughing,a or b can't be put back on the road, hope this helps you!!

Just to clarify, if it's a or b, (complete loss) it will require inspection / IVA and will get either a Q or age related plate, c requires inspection will get age related or original plate if not already re-issued, d not been written off by dvla.

If it gets a Q, you can't change the number at all. It's to identify the vehichle as a rebuild. If there is a danger of it getting a Q, go down the route of registering it as a 'period reconstruction', but most of the parts must be of the correct age for the vehicle. then you can have an age related mark.

Mine was written off class D, purely as it had been repainted with a paintbrush. I paid 20% to keep it and the insurance delivered it home on a lorry Its had a steam clean and new ignition/steering lock and a few small bits and pieces and its nearly good as new.

MartynC, have you managed to get yours back??
