My puma diff doesn't have bolt hole for guard HELP

Evening all
Looking into a rear diff guard and the pics show two bolts on the left hand drive side.
After looking at mine I don't have the holes.. can I drill them? Or are there any other guards that bolt on differently?

I think the two holes are on the underside of the diff just behind the prop flange.
You can get clamp on ones as well that fit around the round back part of the diff.
Gwyn lewis does some nice kit

It's the front diff that bolts on underneath buy the flange

And I don't like the round ones

Well, you can't drill holes in the side of the diff that's for sure!

Why? Its a blank raised area and has holes in other puma diffs

Every diff guard I've seen for the puma has those holes in. Has your diff been changed is it the original one. I'll check mine to see if there are holes in it when it's light.

I would do it now but it's dark and nearly 5 to 3.

The pics further up that I posted saying 'need holes here' was off Google so I assume other people are having the same issue?
I think mine is original to the vehicle It was a 1 owner car with only 30,000 miles

I would suggest that you have the wrong diff guard.
Where did you get it?
Can you take it back and get a replacement for the correct vehicle?

I havnt brought a diff guard yet. But all the wrap around types for puma diffs show the two bolt holes...
It sounds like some have the holes some don't? So I'm tempted to but it and just drill and tap the holes myself

My puma 90 has tapped holes on the diff casting underside (like wot Lynall said in post 2). The front diff uses these tappings to bolt on a bracket which protects the steering tie rod. The rear ones are not used. If yours has these could you make up an L bracket to fit between the diff casting and the guard? Not sure what the thread form is but suspect they are imperial (subject to check but its raining right now and landy is on the lawn). (Also I think the 90 and 110 have different rear diffs?)

could there be a difference between the diffs for year on production. Could the early years Pumas have a TD5 diffs to use up parts left over from the TD5 production run?

I would try to find somewhere that you could get this type from, may be a better and safer option!

But there is not a piece on the side that needs a bolt through it, does look the same though.

Even with the diff on a bench, drilling and tapping it without a pillar drill could be a bit of a 'mare.
