and it's not much...surely things aren't THAT bad over there?!

Sorry, but that really made me laugh.

Too much to say about that comment, too little time.

I did however, sell my 'other' car and my van as a change in circumstances forced me to. I kept the Disco, despite being slightly higher cost to run than the others, and it has fitted the 'do-everything' ideal that I needed. Plus I get to go laning and other fun stuff on top of that.

Bottom line, do whats best for your situation. Situations change and you could find yourself in the position to get a 5.0 litre Holden - its not that bad over here!

Hello,

I only recently bought my disco.
Needing a car to trailer, this was the best option.

Stuck with my 2006 Fiesta and a 1999 Peugeot 306.
Having to chose which one to sell.
The fiesta is now being sold as for the 11 year old peugeot...nobody would want that anymore.

So now we are hoping the old one isn't going to let us down for a moment.
As with 2 people working, it would be almost impossible to have only 1 car (we tried for 1 week, but just not realistic).
....but then, we live in the middle of nowhere...certainly when your 135 km (+/-85 mls) away from your work...

I've been lucky/smart from early on with properties, investments, vehicles, etc, and admit at nearly 29 I'm in a better position than most of my mates, have no kids, etc, so have more ability to do as I please. I'm rather shocked to hear of how bad things over your end have become (from various sources), and visiting England a few months ago was frankly disturbing on a number of fronts...just wasn't sure if my eyes were deceiving me at the time. ;) My comments weren't meant to be dismissive, so please don't interpret them as such ok.

If I had to pick just one out of my collection, the Landy IS the only choice for its ability to do everything...that's one of the reasons why I bought mine. Owning a Holden of any description is lowering yourself to 'scumbag status' here, as that's the target market...civilised folk drive European, American or decent Japanese vehicles. Hehehe!
