I came across an early 70's lightweight fitted with a V8 and some pretty nifty running gear. So on a whim I decided this was the machine for me instead of the little series with a 2.5na.
I don't know anything about petrol landrovers over thhan keep the dizzy dry.
Any tips?
I'm just about to stick it into the garage to do a full fluid change - what oil does the V8 run on?

The wife is even starting to get the bug, and i have been told I need to buy a winch:D

Managed to get photos up, had to give thhe computer a re-boot and nearly a size 12.

Here she is 3.5L V8 driving a Rover 4 speed box.

Aye cannae wait. Planned an offload gathering 1st July. Only downside it was to encourage our other halfs to drive. Unfortunately this is the first outing. Can I let my wife drive. already been told I should buy a. Winch so cant be bad.
Any how
4speed rover box. What oil?
Haynes gives 2 oils on age. Runnerbros tell me. Only one box is used ?
Maybe give this a miss on the service for now

looking from the front . under right side manifold
Cheers Spunka, I saw a similar picture elsewhere, but hadn't yet found the number, Guess it needs a good was :p

Front diff oil changed, rear diff oil - not yet. plug feels dodgy and now it leaks. I got a spare plug so will take it out and see what happens.

Front prop shhaft is a custom / modified unit. Nice uniform weld at the yoke at one end, the other is a bit splattery. Looks like a paddocks unit, it has the blue nylon inserts on the spline. Put it back on for the time being and worked out wich UJ';s it takes. Can anyone recommend a firm that makes custom prop shafts without me needing a mortgage?

Sorted out the steering- arm was loose and I found I couldn't turn right at the road junction and ended up on the grass verge at the other side. Lucky me it could have been a messy accident.

Brakes are disc conversion all round, the pin which holds the pad in place was missing 2 split pins / 1 big double pin. Luckily spotted this too.

Swivel housing will need a rebuild.

Just giving the whole under side a good look over.

Took her for a run to work, canvas roof off - not bad for Scotland. FANTASTIC :smokin:
