Just managed to squeeze it into the back yard to commence work.

All old Landys should be named after their registration number, so what should mine be called??:eek:

As you can see, despite the suggestion of the reg plate, it is indeed very straight for an old Landy. Immediate jobs include overhauling the Weber carb- probably just a good clean, or maybe new internals- and fit a new rad.

Right. Now this is the only rusty bit of the chassis as the rear crossmember and other outriggers have been replaced recently and everything waxoyled. This one- the rear driver's side front spring mount- is snookered for the end 3" or so. I take it this is an MOT failure?? Now, as most of the rigger is sound - up to 3" from the end- can I get away with welding it up with plate after cutting out the bad and fabricating a new outrigger end to supprt the body work here?

Looks a cracker mate, but would look better with the rear military bumper jobbies fitted.
I just happen to have a set for sale ;)

looks nice old thing that, (despite bein a series 3) yer just make a new end up out of some box or plate, clean it all back , then weld it up, :) that rear cross members just a length of box int it? looks solid enough tho dunt it , yer stick the military bumperetts on it ;)

ps, yer reversed over an ikea flat pack due to yer mirrors being folded in

Funnily enough I have the bumperettes in the back and they will go back on after they, and the rear crossmember, get a lick of paint.

That Land Rover Experience sticker comes off thankfully, but some cretin drilled 4 holes in the driver's door to bolt that Camel Trophy plate on!! I'm seriously doubting this car has been to Mongolia in the Trophy so wtf???

Had to fold the mirrors in to squeeze in the gate. Very tight... Alas, in the process, Captain Gay has delivered me from Swedish furniture. Thank god...

Now, silly question number 2- how do I keep the side of the tilt tied up? I was expecting little buckles and straps like the back but there's nothing there???? So what do people do?

Your flag looks upside down. And it's too clean! I'd be envious if I wasn't too busy fitting a galvanised chassis to mine.
Call it Lathyrus japonicus.

Probably is as I didn't fit it, nor any of the other stickers.. Definitely wouldn't have the Commando stickers-'Marines-too gay for the Army, not gay enough for the Navy...' :mil28:

This is sooooo true.. but then I do mix in some strange circles.

So anyway, how do I secure the rolled up sides of the tilt? Shall I just employ 4 small boys to hold them up as I drive along? All the local brats loved the damn thing as I tried not to run them over whilst getting in it's dry dock. I almost had to beat them with a broom to get them out of the back! Still, I guess if they love it they won't trash it..

:confused:I think there is something not quite right with your tilt, mine has 2 straps per side hanging down on the inside, and to buckles per side on the roof outside to strap the sides up,is yours a new tilt?

Ah, I see.. mine does not have anything like that, or any sign that it did before. yes, the tilt is relatively new and excellent condition.
