Kes86, thanks again for the info, very much appreciated. On another note you mentioned about Argon mix for MIG's over here, any chance you can let me know where I can try over here.

Thanks flat it will be a while before I get it going I'll keep you all informed, thanks guys.

If your totally stuck for welding gas then you can use the co2 bottle that the local pub uses for it's larger ;-) not as good as argoshield but better than nothing

So jealous, nearly finished my project and bought it as a pile of SH*t! You shouldnt need new doors if you can do a bit of welding. Save you a couple on hundred quid that way.

Good luck.

No probs. pm'd you back with contact details. I used co2 for years but Argon mix is much smoother to weld with.

Not knowing your welding experience, can I suggest this site.

Can't find any photos of Defender welding, but here's some I did on a Mk1 Escort .

Thanks as ever Kes86, I do know of a friendly Pub Landlord so I may have a word with him, but I was going to contact that guy that you past on to me...

Your help is much appreciated....

I moth-balled the landy today in tarpaulins to try and keep her a little dry until I get the new workshop built, hopefully it wont take too long...

I know this is not really an update to what is happening with the project at the moment, but I am happy with it in a 'Sad' almost Geeky way. But I managed to locate a Brand New Owners Manuals for the exact year of my Defender!

See I told you it was Sad!

As for the project, the New Workshop is nearly built so I will hopefully get it kitted out, Wired up, and ready to be filled with the Car soon.

Thanks Guys...
