Hi Guys.

I am new to the forum and new to Landys.

Bought a 110 over the weekend and Im fairly lost in terms of getting work done to it etc.

It has standard wheels on it and it seems to have been fitted with a lift kit (maybe someone can clarify that from the photo).

I was looking to put bigger (knobbly) tyres on it but im not sure if i need different wheels.

A friend of mine also does vehicle wraps and has said he will do mine for cost price so I will probably have it wrapped in the next few weeks, has anyone else had it done and what things do i need to look out for ?

I was also looking for advice on the best place to buy parts, I am looking for a few small bits and bobs like lights, light covers, front grill, replacement seats (maybe bucket seats) etc etc.

I look forward to exploring the forum for ideas. Thanks in advance and I look forward to your replies.

Thanks

OK, you've gone and got yourself a 110 Landy, is it a standard one or has it had a new engine or gearbox?

All of the bits you want are readily available from a number of sources, although with you being in Eire there might be extra delivery charges.

Big knobblies make town driving a bit like sitting in a pneumatic hammer, but if that's what you want ... ;) ;)

Before you start getting her wrapped, it might be an idea to check that all the mechanical gubbins are working properly!

For the bucket seats, why not pay a visit to your local scrappy and save yourself a few bob?

Sod wrapping yet.

Mechanicals and chassis bulkhead are the most important (chassis and bulkhead most important). Get all that sorted/waxoyled etc then get fun stuff. Or you will have a nice looking landy thats great on top and fit for the scrapper underneath

Thanks lads.

What would be the most important things to do first in your eyes ?

full service?

yep, change ALL fluids, (engine, both axles, both gearboxes, brakes, steering, swivels, coolant) change all your filters, check your glow plugs, have a good look round the chassis and sort any rust issues. Check all your wheel bearings, grease the props, steering gear, check all your lights etc, check your brakes are in good fettle, check all the bushes and rubber bits under the car etc

If your not confident about doing it yourself , the get a mechanic who is familiar with landys to have a look, he should soon find what needs doing, if anything.

The chassis and bulkhead are in very good condition thank god.. i will upload a few photos now to see what yee think. I did notice a leak from what looks like the brake disc on the drivers side.

I saw a you tube video of a guy doing landy restoration and he recommended a paint treatment for the chassis ( called zinc 100 or something like that) anyone know it or can you recommend how to treat the chassis. easy to do ? I am fairly mechanically minded so I can tackle alot of the easier jobs like this myself.

grind it back to bare metal if its not all the way through, anti-rust treat it with phosphoric acid or similar, paint it in antirust paint then normal body paint.

If the cappings are rusted just replace, they unrivet and new ones rivet on. Get galvanised ones.

If rust has eaten through any part cut it out back to good metal and weld in a new piece then do the paint stuff
