Here are the modifications/repairs I've done over the last two weekends:
Car is a TD5 LHD MY2003

1. fitting new winch bumper + winch. The original plastic one got ripped off during an expedition to Romania. Had to take off the discreet winch mount, which I literally managed to use only once - now in my garage.

Original bumper - broken and being held together with wire - new bumper recently delivered on right

New bumper fitted

Had to cut away the horizontal bar at the front in order to fit the winch

Section cut away - also took the opportunity to de-rust the surface using angle grinder and then sprayed Tectyl into the holes/cavities

Painted rusty bits with silver hammerite - which incidentally almost matches the silver of the car

And finally had to cut the plastic grille

Next job was fixing the leading roof - which was beginning to get consistently worse. Guys at Autoglass did a free water-proof test and deduced that the window seals were all fine, including the sunroofs. Problem was with a crack in the gutter fill.

Cleaned and cut away the portion with crack

Filled with sillicone - will give it a coat of silver hammerite as well once it is dry

And finally, need your help. Was filling the washer bottle up and found this loose in the engine bay - have absolutely no idea where it came from and found it resting at the top of the engine above the timing/cam belt next to the plastic engine cover. Any ideas what it is and where it came from/where does it go? Did not notice it last weekend when I was fitting the winch. Definitely didn't remove it myself and last time a mechanic worked on the car was about 3 months ago :(

you got air con?

Looks like part of the magnetic clutch system.

Where did you get the bumper from? Really like that

Yeah I have aircon, had a look where it could have come from and I think you are right.

Got the bumper from Paddock spares, but the sticker on the bumper is First Four - so Paddocks are probably distributing for them. They have two versions - one which is with foglights and another with DRL. The bumper fits perfectly and you don't even need to re-locate the washer bottle.

Hi, I also have a leak at the front of the gutter but am struggling to get the trim off.

How did you get the plastic trim off the corner of the gutter without breaking it? In the pic it looks like you moved the window pillar cover? If so what is the method because mine is very tight and doesn't want to move (I have removed the plastic rivets up the inside of the door but that hasn't helped).

Thanks

The corner bit comes off quite easily once you remove the windscreen trim. Its a bit fiddly and maybe you'll need a screwdriver just to gently help ease it off. Be careful with the windscreen trim as I broje both of mine :) now in search of replacements
