paint on grease thinned with petrol....thin enough to get between the springs then the petrol evaporates......leaving yer grease where it wont normally go

mix old engine oil 50/50 with diesel and blast it on with the long nosed tool you get with a compressor.
watch the rust blow away.
However; dont be surprised if it sits much lower as the interleaf friction is much reduced...
