My first off roader - defender 90

Well I've finally gone and got myself my first off roader and picked a defender over a disco in the end! Swapped this for my Mk4 and I'm chuffed with it! Haven't had a chance to get it dirty yet but will very soon

few updates from today

cleaned out all the rear and painted black. I also removed the saggy head lining and any bits of foam interior trim ready for off roading




I then removed the battery and cleaned the tray and rust treated it all.



Gave the inside and engine bay a little clean




polished a couple panels to see how the paint came up, got pitting in alot of area's and wasn't sure weather to go another colour or keep original but the blue has won me over! So decided to give it a touch up soon.




It needs a few things doing but I'm loving my defender right now! Its already got a few mods for off roading but I'm getting everything sorted before i throw money at goodies!

I need a windscreen and rear window so if you have one in Somerset give me a shout

I forgot to add the most important update!!

No more squeaky clutch! YAY.

Looking good. Careful though - all this cleaning and you won't be wanting to get it muddy!

You're right there Phil haha, I'm just trying to clean everything up and rust protect it before it gets really muddy

Went through everything today and I've got all the light working apart from one full beam and sorted a few other bits! Nice to have something to spend some time on.

Quick question what MPG do most people get?

I only get about 230/240 ish miles to a full tank, with big tyres, disco tranny box and tweeked fuel pump.
Never tryed working out mpg

I got 205 miles to half a tank today I normally get 280 on a full tank I have normal tranny box and 205/85/16 bit smaller than standard but ok for on road use

Well my fuel gauge is all over the shop at the moment so I'm reading by luck!! next job on the list got a feeling it's just a loose connection!

Few little bits done today.
-fitted a new rear window
-sealed the sunroof as it was leaking!
-painted the front guard

Just gotta clean up the silicone tomorrow on the rear screen and then fit the windscreen!

Does anyone know the colour code for this blue?

From the pics it looks more like a Land Rover than a Jeep.

30mm spacers
O/s pedal box section
Pedal rubbers
New wipers
New lock set
Windscreen rubber to fit the new glass!

Need to get it all sorted for Monday! MOT time

Ha, mine is usually the other way around, I missed by 4 months on my car!

Chequer plating off and getting powder coated black and a quick rinse

Few new presents to me again, I'm glad my Mrs is so naive on how much everything is lol

Chequer plating back from powder coated and 2nd hand genuine safari snorkel and rear light guards!

Need to get some welding done on the body and then going to try and do everything at once over a weekend along with paint!
