My first ever Defender 90

Also got 70% of my chequer plate sprayed black. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416075781.027716.jpg

So progression started off slowly this morning with the passenger side front suspension taking near 3 hours to replace. Then the drivers side went a lot smoother once we had a better idea on what to do.
Sadly no before and after shots of the front.

Also started cleaning up the inside ready to start things in there.

But here she is as she stands right now.

Chequer plate and arches sprayed black and on.
Snorkel on.
New springs and shocks on.
Electrics 85% fixed. Waiting on more parts to arrive.
Then she will be in for MOT.

If she passes I'll then be buying winch bumper and winch.
Spot lights for front and back.
New modular rims in black and haven't chosen my rubber yet.
And I'll finish getting the CB radio wired up.

Then off to salisbury plain to play :)

Zeaphod, a pre-December 1987 model is known as a Ninety not a 90 :)

To be fair, the front badge would have said "Land Rover 90". 'Tis a Defender in all but name of course. Purists will argue otherwise. I've got a 110/OneTen but would still call it a Defender, although it is nice correcting people and saying: "well, it isn't a Defender in fact..." that's just sad though, admittedly. Back to me cider then!

It would be possible to argue that the other way round :p
A defender is a 90/110 in all but name! :D

Defender was just a badge dreamed up by some drunken marketing man, 90/110 was the original coil sprung land rover shaped Land Rover, and in keeping with the long tradition of land rovers being known by wheelbases.

Had to give it a name when the Discovery came out so people stopped calling them Landrover Landrovers.. of course it also gave them an excuse to build them even cheaper.. give it another 10yrs and the bodywork will be made from KitKat wrappers..

Thanks for the clarification on that folks :)

I'll get some photos up at the weekend of the bad bits.

But these lot just arrived at work and I came straight home to un box it all. 😝

Heavy duty springs

Snorkel

Rear washer jet
CB radio (in another box)
And other little bits

looking good but you will soon learn that most stuff in blue boxes is bad, very bad

Clearly I should have gone for other products then but this is my first off roader and was never gunna have millions of quid spent on it.

And yes Series 3 Sweet 16, it is the original colour.

Its looking good Chedgy - picture of my 90 (as shown by my bonnet!) Its a great forum on here.....I have been learning and trawling though posts for many years....

Most important thing is to have fun and make it unique to your taste - everyone's is different.;)

Just rubbed back and used Hammerite white stone chip paint to protect the rear door from rusting up any more.

Not bad for a 1986 truck I don't think.

And my two pride and joys together 😘ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416668163.737110.jpg

Well when she comes out on the road I'll see how it is. Everything so far has fitted really well so no trouble there.

This isnt going to be a competition truck or anything like that so I'll be happy just to have a laugh behind the wheel what ever happens :)
