Hi guys,

Here are a couple of pics of my disco.
It has seen alot of work this weekend but not as much as i would have liked due to parts not turning up. So far i have:-

Got bumper corner from scrappy.
Fixed the rear door cenral locking.
Fixed the gearbox bias plate.
Removed, regreased and refitted the stuck diff lock mechanism.
Removed the intercooler and pipes and cleaned out the oil.

Today i hope to:-
Get the re-welded handbrake lever back in so it no longer pinches my hand agaist the console..
Put console back in.
Put dash back together.
Re-route the breather pipes so that it no longer feeds oil into the intake.
Remove bumper and paint it and fit new corner piece.
Paint the ali doorcard for the rear door and fit it with rivinuts.
Fit the rivinuts for the rocksliders in the sill.
Refit the bumper and put on the bull bar.

Should keep me quiet for the day..:)

Regards Simon.

well, so far have most of the console back in, still waiting for my mate to bring round the handbrake, all m6 rivinuts in the back door, door panel painted, and have still managed to get the shopping in with the wife and child. still loads to do today. Sarah the wife has offered to prep the bumper for painting. that should give me enough time to do the oil change on the diffs.

Well got console back in, intercooler back in, put oil in the rear diff :)eek:) and all seems good. Rear diff is now quiet and can hear all the other noises that need sorting:mad:. Lack of light stopped play.

Need to still look at the handbrake as the light stays on the dash now. I have decided to put on the new tubular winch bumper off the stalled other disco project as a temporary thing so that i can sort the original bumper out properly. It will also be donating its rock sliders as it may now become a sahara.

I need to pickup some M6 countersunk hex head bolts for the rear door plate from work tommorow as i forgot the M5 rivinut tool and had to use M6 instead. I still need to add the wiring for the spot lights and possibly the roof bar i have. Also the panels for the inner wings and the service kit arrives tommorow so will have plenty to keep me occupied for the next few evenings.

Looks like the rear diff needs a new gasket, but as it quieter now i think thats all it needs. However i do have a spare front diff. What apart from the drive flanges is different? Can i use that in the rear or would it run the wrong way?

Need to change the transfer box oil and gearbox oil when i service it properly, hopefully that will quieten them down as well.

I started a thread on the starting rattle that it has and will post some other observations there so not to mix up this one..

Regards

Simon

Looking good....my sunroof has been a pig to fix... 4 of the "captives" that hold the screws for the drip tray were spinning around and took a bit of brute force to remove... ordered the wrong seal and now the bolt that holds the glass in is not gripping...a 2 hour job is turning into a marathon......:(
Respray shortly and fix the bumper which looks very much like yours at he moment...

Not even looked at the sunroofs yet.. I will leave that for another day after its got through the MOT which is due in a couple of weeks. Think the rear diff is also leaking from the diff pan weld as well as the gasket.

The panels from YRM have turned up and seem really good quality. Also the sevice kit has turned up so that will being done at the weekend. Not been able to do anything today as have been off work with a dodgy stomach. So i have spent the time looking over ebay for another disco for the wife, she has decided to replace her V6 freelander with an ES disco...

Just bought an ES Disco as a selling on venture with my neighbor who is a mechanic... we have taken the head off and getting it skimmed ready for sale in a week or two we'll also do the belts clutch etc... we stripped mine down and got the block and head skimmed...new clutch etc etc and it runs great just got the body to spray but that is a keeper for me...I love it , it's my first Disco and I'm smitten.....:)

Well was feeling a bit better today so i decided to have a go at the concreate that was plastered up the passenge side by the PO. I tried vinegar to try and break it down and that was a non starter with the ammount that was there so went to B&Q and got some of the brick and patio cleaner. As the worst of it was on the passenger door i thought i would try that area first as if it attacked the paint i could just get another door...

The first 2 photos show some of what it was like as i forgot to get a photo before i started on the door and the last photo is what it was like after the first going over. I have to say it was effective. One more go and i can evaluate the paint a bit better and decide on what to do about the PO's attempts at removing it...
