my disco 1 seems to struggle between 40 an50 auto

this is a 98 with edc an cruise the auto will drop down if i floor it but then gets to 40 an slows down till about 50 an then takes off again

Check all the vacuum hoses for splits and kinks. Even a small scratch or tight turn can have an effect

There is no vacuum on a diesel, but if he had a split boost pipe you wouldn't think it would take off once it gets to 50mph.

How does it behave if you try holding it in one gear (eg manually shift it into 3, rather than let it try and downshift from D?

It's because the gear change is between 40 and 50 into top. It will change up at about 50 but if you slow to almost 40 it wont change down unless you floor it so it seems like it is stuck in the mud until it reaches 50 ish.

Our lasses motor is the same but she also has big tyres on hers
