The war ended in '45, production of the Beetle (as we know it) started in '46.
back to the topic...

can you read ???

the kdf wagon as in the vw beetle the exact same car WAS in production before the war thats how hitler partially financed his military build up with millions of germans buying them.
Check yer history ****

hitlers input was it had to cost less than 1000 reichmarks...think it was 995 ! designed by ferdinand porsche...look at the similarities between the beelte and the porsche 356 !

OK, so production was started before the war, they made 210 before production was ceased.

What's your problem? We have a debate about the history of VWs, why does that make you

Blimey, when you guys get the handbags out you really go for it don't you!

Good luck with the project, by the looks of those dumb irons there will be fair bit to do!

Hey guys
Here are some pics of the 88", I just bought for my wife. :D
It needs a fair bit of work underneith, usual welding **** I guess. Once I've done that I'm going to sand blast the chassis, and replace all the steering components & detail it all up. The plan is for power steering & disc brakes too.
It also needs a new transfer box (I think), as it makes a terible noise in 1st, 2nd & 3rd, and won't select 2 wheel drive.

Quite likely the noise in 1st, 2nd & 3rd is caused by one of the layshaft bearings in the main gearbox, if it's quiet in 4th, because the power is not transmitted through the layshaft when in 4th gear. The box will have to come out to fix that, which means pulling out the floor and seatbox. That'll be handy because it will give you better access for welding up the (probably) rotten outriggers and bulkhead.
