mines grey and i really toyed with the idea of leaving my doortops black and then fitting a black canvas.

for me, solid black doesn't suit a series like it suits a defender, i think you need to keep it twotone if you do it black, and make sure the cappings stay silver

Decided on two tone now. Just got to decide which bits to paint black etc. :)
Cappings will stay silver no matter what ;)

Well the 109 is certainly earning her keep tonight:)

Got a call a few hours ago from a friend of mine who got his gaylander stuck in a field next to a load of muck up their yard. He managed to get it bogged down so far you couldn't see the blingy sidesteps that are on it and could only just open the door.

Unfortunately didn't manage to take any photos as my phone was being used as a torch as it was pitch black. Hooked it up after a lot of digging, dropped the 109 into low and 2nd and it heaved it out no trouble at all :D

All in all a rather entertaining night :) and a good trip out in the 109 :p

On another plus my friend is now gonna sell the gaylander and buy a proper landy :p:p:D:D

Rear leaf springs got a coating of a mixture of used oils and thinners today after a thorough wire brushing :)

Got a little fed up of the bone jarring ride so thought I'd get on with it :p

They will get another coat of the mixture tomorrow morning and also then fill her up with the shed load of scrap metal i have lying around followed by a trip the scrappy so hopefully will free them up nicely.
Front leaves will also get a coat tomorrow morning even though they work quite well.

Another small update.

Finally made a bit of progress with the disco axles :)

Rear axle is now stripped of all it's coil sprung bits and bobs and is now ready for welding. :D

It's more rust free than in those pictures. Spent another hour or so after they were taken wire brushing and attacking it with a flap disc. Then had to rush to pack everything up as me dinner was ready :p Will get more pics once i start fabricating the leaf mounts, shock mounts and bump stops. Plus i ran out of cutting discs :(

More to follow over the next week or so ;)

Another thought on colour scheme, could lways flip it, paint the chassis and axles battleship grey and the top half in chassis black  :D Looking good though :)

Well 2 v8 powered twunts and then theres me in my rattly old 2.5 diesel :) Oh well, will be a fun weekend though never the less (when I eventually reach up there) :D
