hi, i've just had a water pump replaced on my k series freelander, i supplied the pump. i was charged 90 quid!!..i almost attempted the work myself as it did'nt seem too complicated. have i been mugged or am i in the wrong trade??

hi d d as long as the guy who changed your water pump after re filling the coolant bled the air from the system, and since driving it for a few miles all is ok,then id say £90 is ok tim

You've not been mugged. It is a fair bit of work and that isn't a bad price. Timing belt has to come off to change water pump so you should have asked him to do that too.

Would you have been ok taking off the timing belt, bleeding coolant etc? If not then paying someone £90 is better than paying someone £400 to replace bent valves or a hed gasket.

£90 is a good price if it makes the problem go away.

(just had to shell out £795 on the wife's zafira, started as a simple O ring replacement on the aircon, at £24.96 inc vat, and just grew and grew, ended up with new Tx valve, new condensor, new puller blower, along with all the labour)
