mudflap replacement

evening all i am trying to replace my right hand mud flap is it just a case of drilling the rivvets out and putting new ones in

I presume you mean the rivets holding the flap to the bracket and not rivnuts holding the bracket to the chassis? Did it on dad's last week, drill out rivets, pull out remenants of old flap from bracket, rivet new one in. Might be an idea to use small washers as well depending on what your brackets are like.

When i did mine the rivets were massive and i didn't have any rivetting gear that big so i used a stainless nut and bolt with washers either side instead. still going strong.

Same here, hence the washers.

if you cut your new flaps 2-3 inches shorter it makes them alot less prone to getting caught when reversing off road etc.

just thought it might help.

Good point Larry, you can also punch a small hole in the bottom then tie/ziptie them to the bumprettes when off roading...or rip them off once and not bother fitting them again!

easy job./i made extra big ones for the back...

Bin em they'll only get ripped off. They serve very little useful purpose anyway.

gosh.need em here.they do get hammered but i get em at 3.50 so 1 or two a year dont hurt.the salt dirt and stone chips destroy the cross member and out riggers.

Do you have any pictures of this? Can you post some please.

I'm not sure if they were the original rivets (although they appeared to be) but when I took my flaps off I must have snapped 5 drill bits. Those things were hard as diamonds... or is it just me?
