I'm curious on what people are getting I'm getting about 60miles to and from work day to day for £20 of LPG

John

just done a quick calculation based on average prices etc.

You are getting the petrol equivalent of 19-20 mpg on LPG.

Whilst this may not seem fantastic, try going to work and back on petrol for a week!

In my experience V8s with big tyres do about 14mpg at most.

Solo, we get 15-18mpg on LPG, which is the cost equivalent of around 25-28mpg on petrol, all depending on what we are doing and pump prices.

Towing the big trailer/rv with the engine in the back it drops down to 10mpg on hilly bits, but in Holland last week with the trailer on we could cruise at 60 with a fairly light throttle, quite pleased with it.

Got a roof wind deflector I haven't used since the 80's in the workshop, I'm going to get that out and see what a difference it makes, if any.

Same here...there is a trade off mate. Sometimes on lpg you just put the foot down a bit more, but I'm pretty careful and I'm not a fast driver to I get equivalent 25-28mpg

I have a 3.9 V8 RR, so around town you get bugger all no matter which way you look at it. I live in the sticks with nice roads and decent runs so the lpg makes it reasonably affordable.

We've just done Edinburgh and back, I've kept all the receipts and mileages, up the A1 the long way round, back down the M6.

Quicker by the A1, 6.5 hours, coming back at higher speeds it was 7.25 hours.

I'll sit down and work out the figures, we had 18 miles on petrol as the Jet garage up near Morpeth was out of gas, but we found a place well up the road that had LPG so filled up there.

We were 2-up, with overnight luggage, had a project meeting in Edinburgh and trains/flying was just too much hassle.

Total mileage was 743, allowing for the period on petrol.

Total LPG used was 218.26 litres or 48.010 gallons (UK)

MPG 15.47

Going up we did 15.75 mpg
Coming back we did 16.92 mpg

The overall figure looks low, the average of the two figures should be 16.33mpg.

Prices: Cheapest was Shell Doncaster at £0.659p a litre, dearest was Lindisfarne Services at £0.799.

Total fuel cost was £165.46, which equates to 27.176 gallons of petrol at £1.34 a litre (average pump price) or 27.34 mpg petrol equivalent if all my calculations are correct.

We finished at the same garage we started out from, so the LPG filling should be about the same.

In my 3.5v8i manual disco, got 13/14mpg round town, on a run could get 18/19 sitting at 65 on lpg. My current 3.9 was crap only getting 11 in town or 11 on a run, believe this was due to a few things 1) being engine needed some TLC 2) my lpg system needs some TLC. Engines in bits as we speak. Once running will get a new front end LPG multipoint system put in :)
