MOT / Wipers

Hi there - a couple of questions on MOTs I hope someone can help me with.

1 - Front wipers, they work fine, clear the rain perfectly, squirters are all ok, the only problem is that when they stop, they always stop in a random position - no idea why, so I just jog them to the right position by using the wiper stalk.

Would this fail the MOT? If so anybody suggest why it might be doing it and how to resolve it?

2 - Rear wiper and washer - has never worked, never needed it so has not been an issue to me, but will that mail the MOT? I could always remove it if that were a way round it?

Hoping for some advice from people who have had the same issue at the front?

Rear wash wipe not working is OK ( not part of the test )
They can not fail it for not parking , as long as they clear the screen effectively and the washers work like you said then you'll be fine mate .

yes mate , no mot issue , you just need a park switch for the motor , i have just ordered one off ebay but mine went thro test like yours anyway

Cant remember for sure but if the wiper parked in the drivers view during the test wouldnt that be a fail?

Just fit a new park switch to the wiper motor ... took me 15 minutes and the switch is under a tenner. All the best.

any instructions? and where to get the switch??

I had this problem also but tunred out to be the wiper relay in the main fuse box. This also gives you intermittent. Expensive new but available second hand:

I bought the switch off ebay. The motor is located in front of the passenger seat behind the lower part of the dash. You need to remove the handle on the end of the dash (hidden screw behind the LR disc) and then remove the lower corner of the dash. You will then see the wiper motor with the park switch located on top connected to a multi block. While you're there check the earth which is screwed into the bulkhead just above it.
