hi all i,ve got the dreaded mot for my series IIa tomorrow and have got it all ready over the last few weeks only to move it yesterday and find that the speedo has stopped working . it goes up but not back down again. Any ideas would be great as only have a few hours tomorrow to sort it. thats if its needed for the mot.

can only be yer clock rather than the cable, take it out and smack it around a bit if that dint work either get another or take it apart and find out if the spring is broke or un attached

not required for mot, only mileage is. but to be legal on road must have a speedo/device to show speed (sat /nav etc)

Have taken it out and as soon as i disconnect it it returns to zero> Have replaced the pinion too as it didnt work at all to start with. Think the misses will be driving in front of me to make sure i dont go to fast to mot station then.

Been through 3 MoTs with no speedo (its worked in between) no problems

I too have got away with a non working speedo..I doubt its your most significant worry!

I'd be thinking about the brakes over the speedo all day long

well im pleased to say it didnt fail on the speedo. just a side light that decided it didnt want to work altho it did on the way and into the garage, oh well the re test is free so its back in again on wednesday.
