essex.... in the middle somewhere
MOT Time has snuck round again and i have 3 days til my old un expires... time to check to see if it will pass..
Lights, check.
Horn, parp.
Washers, nothing check power pumps buggered replace with new bottle with modern pump, check still no squirty from o/s jet.
wipers, replaced.
Chassis, hole on n/s below seat box
Eggzorst, split at box.
Steering, within tollerance

so just a couple of things to sort, washers just need a length of tubing as the 1974 stuff has collapsed, the chassis needs welding and so does the zorst so heres a question for you.......does anyone in the essex area have a mig welder i can borrow or a couple of days in exchange for a case of beers?

if your windscreen folds down (and they all do) then you don't need window washer. u still need wipers though

I don't think you need wipers either. If you have a cab or hardtop they may claim you can't fold the screen.

ffs, its fooking winter in the fookin UK. its a matter of safety, you need wiper to be able to see, even if they are landy ones.
or are you gonna drive about with the screen folded down,no roof, duffle coat and sou-wester and them novelty party glasses with the small wipers on them?

I understand Mr Slob's sentiments relating to the safety aspect of having operational wipers and washers (and compliment him on stating his point in such a direct manner), however, for the purpose of getting a ticket on said landy, indeed it is correct to assume that if the windscreen(s) are not of a permanently fixed type then there is legislation stating that windscreen washers are not required to satisfy the MOT test. I have experience of this "loophole" from getting a few of them VW splitscreen campers fitted with "safari's" (which are of no practical use as its too fooking windy to drive wiv em open and they always let the rain **** in when they are closed) through MOT's.
You may find that the grumpy old ****er who does the MOT will insist he can fail it, but persist and get him to read his bible and he's fooked.
At least that way you can get a ticket and then sort the washers out later.
The only thing I am not sure about is whether having washers fitted means they have to work, whereas on the VW's, if they aint fitted and you got safari's, thats ok. You may find the MOT tester trained at the Mr Slob charm school for MOT testers.......then you are ****ed:eek:

or if the tester is more concerned about whether yer a liability on the road and doesn't want to see any more kids killed by ****s in unsafe and unroad-worthly vehicles. in which case he might fail yer aswell.

oh sorry mrs smith i didn't see young tom on his bike as i found a loop hole that allowed me to get an MOT for my dangerous car. i hope he comes out of the coma real soon and that the brain damage isn't too bad. by the way here's some old bike wheels that you could use to make a wheel chair for him till he gets his archyfacial legs fitted.
